Are you a First Nations individual with a passion for the arts, literacy, storytelling, and/or education looking to make a difference? Do you have experience serving on not-for-profit boards?
The Literature Centre is a not-for-profit organisation striving to create a future where all young people in Western Australia have the confidence to discover and create their own stories. We want to have a deep impact on literacy and to do this we need to ensure our programs and services are inclusive, accessible and culturally safe for all young people.
As we work to achieve this vision, we’re seeking a paid First Nations member to join our Board. Remuneration of this position acknowledges the cultural knowledge load involved in representation and advice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance on the organisation’s strategic vision and governance
- Collaborate with the CEO and board members to ensure the cultural safety of our programs and services.
- Provide cultural advice where relevant.
- Attend up to four meetings per year face to face or online
Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience on a not-for-profit board.
- Experience in the arts, literacy, stories and/or education.
You will be paid a half day for your preparation and attendance rate of $80 per hour for four hours per board meeting ($320 per meeting). Cultural advice outside of these hours will be paid in addition where relevant.
If you're ready to contribute your expertise and join a team passionate about empowering young people and supporting diverse WA creatives, we’d love to hear from you!
