We’re turning the page to a new chapter in our story. After more than three wonderful decades at the Old Fremantle Prison Hospital, The Literature Centre will relocate to a new home inside the State Library of Western Australia — effective January 1, 2026.
This decision follows thoughtful consultation with our board, artists, educators, and supporters. It opens the door to exciting new possibilities:
- A more central, accessible location for WA schools
- Shared space and collaboration with Writing WA
- Reduced operating costs and greater sustainability
- Stronger visibility in WA’s cultural and literary landscape
While our address will change, our commitment remains the same: to champion WA’s diverse stories and nurture the next generation of storytellers.
We’re deeply grateful to the Fremantle community and will continue to deliver programs in the area — now with even greater impact across the state.
The story continues. And it’s only getting better.
