Raewyn Caisley

Raewyn has been recognized for her contribution to changing the lives of young West Australians with her work on permanent display in the Innovations Gallery of the WA Museum, Boola Bardip.

Her award winning titles include HELLO FROM NOWHERE, based on her experience running Balladonia Roadhouse in the late 80s, SOMETHING WONDERFUL, drawn from the life of internationally recognised West Australian physicist Sam Dawkins, and ROCKY AND LOUIE, co-authored by emerging Noongar elder, cultural ambassador and deadly musician, Phil Walley-Stack.

She has more than 35 titles to her credit, many of which have been published around the world. They include the first ever Aussie Nibble, THE MERMAID’S TAIL, which has stayed in print for more than twenty years.

Raewyn encourages students to write from the heart. Her author talks cover everything from life in the outback, her experience growing up as the migrant daughter of a migrant, and even atomic theory, cosmology and the universe! Her workshops also focus on maths language using narrative.

Coming from a place only a true writer/educator can draw on her workshops are empowering and extraordinary, while at the same time being ‘more fun than recess with cake!’.
