Workshop Details & Pricing


Our workshop fees vary depending on the program, workshop format, school location, available funding and your school's ICSEA. The prices listed below are starting rates.

With support from the Department of Education, subsidised pricing may be available for eligible schools. We encourage all schools to contact us to discuss their needs and receive a tailored quote.

Workshops at Your School

Visual Literacy and Writing workshops

Workshop fees start from:

  • $350 for a one-hour workshop, including metropolitan travel.
  • $600 for a two-hour workshop, including metropolitan travel.
  • $850 for a full day of up to four sessions, including metropolitan travel.

One class may participate in each workshop, with a maximum of 35 students per class.

Metropolitan travel is based on the Department of Education boundaries, extending north to Yanchep and south to the Mandurah/Peel region. Please refer to the metropolitan boundary map available in Important Documents for Schools.

For schools outside the metropolitan area, additional travel costs apply at 88 cents per kilometre, calculated from The Literature Centre to the school and return using Google Maps.

Workshops at The Literature Centre

Visual Literacy and Writing Workshops

  • Two-hour workshops start from $15 per student.
  • A minimum workshop fee of $300 applies, equivalent to 20 students.
  • Maximum of 35 students per class.
  • Maximum of two classes per session.

Where possible, schools are encouraged to travel to The Literature Centre by public transport. Perth Station is approximately a 10-minute walk from the Centre.

Important Workshop Information

Our workshops often explore visual imagery and the way it supports narrative. To give students the most live and exciting experience, we ask that you do not share focus texts before participating in  our workshops. 

To meet Department of Education excursion procedures and duty-of-care requirements, each class must be accompanied by a teacher.

Recommended supervising adult-to-student ratios are:

  • Kindergarten to Year 3: One adult for every five students.
  • Years 4 to 12: One adult for every 10 students.
  • Home-school groups: One adult educator per family group.

Invoicing

Invoices are issued on the day of the workshop or shortly afterwards and are based on the number of students who attend.

A minimum workshop fee of $300 applies.

Payment is required within seven days of the invoice date.

Cancellations

The full workshop fee will apply when cancellation notice is provided less than two weeks before the scheduled visit.

Artist School Visits

Bring an Australian author or illustrator into your school for an engaging and inspiring workshop with students.

Artist School Visits are coordinated through Paper Bird Children’s Books & Arts. Fees and arrangements vary depending on the artist, location and requirements of the visit.

Professional Learning

Professional Learning fees start from:

  • $30 per teacher for a one-hour session.
  • $60 per teacher for a two-hour session.
  • $120 per teacher for a four-hour session.

A minimum booking fee of $300 applies. These starting rates include travel to metropolitan schools.
