Déborah grew up in Brittany, the French Celtic region famous for its cider, buckwheat crêpes, seafood and the home of Asterix and Obelix. She has worked in the book industry for over twenty years. Deb studied Information and Communication at I’Université Montaigne in Bordeaux where she completed an Associate Degree in Bookselling and Publishing. After graduating, she spent a couple of years travelling, learnt African dance in Togo, worked for publishing houses in Paris and Mauritius and managed a tiny café-bookshop for one summer on the small Breton island of Groix. Deb moved to the UK in 2002 and worked at The European Bookshop in London where she organised book orders for schools, libraries and literary events at The French Institute. She also developed and managed a French graphic novels section and assisted the UK publisher Knockabout Comics with translations and book events sales. For five years, she worked as a rights manager for various UK book publishers, negotiating co-edition rights in 14 languages across Europe. She finally moved to Australia in 2012 with her partner, started a family, worked for a Margaret River winery and wrote subtitles for TV documentaries. Deb has coordinated The Lit Centre's esteemed Young Writers Program for the past five years.
