Entries open for The Randolph Stow Young Writers’ Award

The 2023 Randolph Stow Young Writers Awards writing competition is now open and will run until Monday 3 July, 2023.

The competition is open to all students from Years 3 to 12 who live or study within the Midwest as defined by the Education Department of Western Australia (North to Exmouth – East to Wiluna and South to Watheroo). The Award is for original works of poetry or prose.

The Award provides a wonderful opportunity to encourage students in the art of creative writing. The competition is divided into two categories, poetry and prose and students are eligible to enter both categories, but only one entry is permitted for each category. Entries are to be a single piece of work written by one person.

Categories:

Lower Primary Years 3-4

Upper Primary Years 5-6

Lower Secondary Years 7-8

Middle Secondary Years 9 -10

Upper Secondary Years 11-12

There are cash prizes for the winners of each category and The Literature Centre will award two placements into The Young Writers Collective in 2024.
