Events at The Literature Centre

What's On

Launch your book or hold an event at the home of children’s literature in Western Australia.

Are you an author or illustrator looking for a venue to launch your children’s book? Do you have an arts and cultural event you would like to host, like a book club, or a writing group? We have a beautiful, recently renovated, air-conditioned gallery space that can accommodate a large number of adults and children, and seat up to 100 people. Our large verandah and grassed area are the perfect setting for kid’s craft activities, adult creative workshops, or drinks and nibbles!

For a tax-deductible donation of no more than $260* to cover the time for two Centre staff on the day of the event and a cleaning fee. The Literature Centre will provide the following:

Gallery space set up with EDUtouch screen, microphone and sound system.
Velcro boards for the display of artwork/prints
Kitchen facilities – oven, fridge, food preparation area
The use of platters, glasses and a 100-cup urn
Up to 3 trestle tables
Up to 120 chairs inside the gallery and some seating outside.
Assistance with creating a free Eventbrite event for guests to register their attendance.
Promotion of the event through one or more of our social media platforms, and an email newsletter out to our local subscribers.

You will need to organise:

Any presentations you require or additional tech requirements
Volunteers to assist you in the preparation and serving of food (if applicable)
Volunteers to assist you in setting up a drinks table (if required)
Volunteers to help clear the galley space and wash glasses and platters at the conclusion of the event.
Any craft/activity requirements (if applicable)
Photographer (if applicable)
An event in line with current COVID safe requirements, with adherence to WA mandates.
Large events may require a nominated security person positioned at the Centre’s gate.

Authors and illustrators we will now actively partner with Paper Bird in Fremantle to present your book launch. If you already have one planned at their venue, we will not duplicate it with another launch at the Centre but can work with you and Paper Bird to support larger numbers for your event.
