Young Writers

Our Young Writers programs are for avid readers and writers in Years 6 to Year 12. Available face-to-face or online. (Formerly called Talented Young Writers' Program)

Our unique Young Writers program (formerly Talented Young Writers' Program) is for young avid readers and writers and is unlike anything else in Australia.

Students Years 6 to 12 attend full day writing workshops held each term at our Centre in Fremantle, and also in Bunbury, Busselton, Albany and Geraldton in host schools.

This exciting program enhances the writing skills of all who attend and nurtures a new generation of keen readers and writers. They have the opportunity to meet a broad range of Australia's talented, published authors who are skilled in working with students across many years.  Find out more below.

In 2020 due to the impact of COVID-19 we have been delighted to deliver our unique and acclaimed writing program differently - online for students via a series of video links! Our presenting authors’ carefully tailored presentations have been pre-recorded either here at our Centre (for WA authors) or in their own homes for interstate authors. Students receive the series of writing sessions from one author, each term, tailored to their year level.

Given the launch and success of our Young Writers Online, and that eventually it will continue in tandem with our normal writing program, we've had to find a way to distinguish online activity with the normal face to face.

From late August, we'll refer to the Young Writers Collective and our online initiative as Young Writers Online.
We can't wait for the opportunity to resume our normal face-to-face program at our Centre and in regional host schools soon.
