The Literature Centre proudly acknowledges our long and rewarding partnership with Healthway, promoting the Go For 2 & 5 and the Foodbank Superhero Foods messages to all primary school workshops. Together they assist with funding for our 'Go for 2 & 5' WA Primary Schools Literature Program. Important healthy eating messages for children and their families are presented to students as part of our workshop.

Throughout each year, primary teachers receive a helpful information pack during our workshops and all students receive a Foodbank recipe booklet to take home with them. We want to encourage healthy eating habits from a young age and improve public awareness of healthy eating options.

In recent years, promotions have included a Superhero Foods Healthy Plate Competition for students to create and draw new superheroes (winners received our Bookshop vouchers) and we were excited to co-present a Professional Learning 'Super' Seminar for teachers at our Centre, focusing on Nutrition in Schools by the Foodbank WA team AND Visual Literacy and the WA Curriculum by our Education Officers. Our mission continues in 2022! We'll introduce children to Healthway messages - eat 2 fruit and 5 veg everyday - and Foodbank WA's Superhero Foods in all of our primary school literature workshops.  During our workshops Education Officers, authors and illustrators increase awareness of the benefits of eating a rainbow of colourful fruits and vegetables every day for healthy bodies and strong minds, encourage children to drink water regularly, and they share their favourite Superhero Foods and recipes, all integrated into their presentation.

TOP TIP!  For incursions and excursions (or when your family is out and about) we have healthy food options to consider.  Teachers may like to send home to parents and caregivers a Healthway and Foodbank 'Food on the Move' flyer promoting delicious and nutritious ideas for what to pack.  See flyer here
