Thanks so much for the fantastic response to our School Holiday Professional Learning. We loved hosting around 40 teachers here at the Centre, with many from country areas making the trip to Fremantle. We look forward to announcing our next Professional Learning Workshop soon.
In the meantime, remember our Celebrate Reading National Conference - The Inside Story on Quality Australian Literature for Children is on from 1-2 November at The Literature Centre. Registrations are open! If you missed our Term 2 Professional Learning session ‘Art of a Master – Inspiration for Creative Writing’, we are running it again during the school holidays. Teachers will have the opportunity to explore some of the original, awe-inspiring illustrations from Shaun Tan’s latest book, ‘Tales from the Inner City’. Learn how to engage even the most reluctant writer in creative and critical thinking. Discover tricks and tips that we have learned from some of Australia’s most talented writers and show how using quality picture books in your classroom will enrich secondary students’ writing.

Each participant will leave the session with a collection of practical and inspiring strategies to take straight back into the classroom.
This is a rare opportunity to gain creative writing ideas while immersed in an exhibition of Shaun Tan’s extraordinary original artwork.
