The Sound of Picture Books - Cancelled in September 2020

Posted 7 months ago by Webmaster

** Important Announcement **

We are sad to advise that The Sound of Picture Books for September 2020 has had to be cancelled as a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) health crisis.
Due to many uncertainties, including social distancing restrictions, school policies and border closures, we are unable to host our much-loved performances at our Centre and in host schools.
Of course, we must look to 2021.  The Sound of Picture Books will return and we cannot wait to be reunited with the cast - Matt Ottley (based in NSW), Alf Demasi and WASO's superb string quintet - Rachael, Bec, Cerys, Melinda and Louise.
We wish you all good health and wellbeing during these unprecedented times and look forward to welcoming you again soon to The Literature Centre.

Warmest wishes,

Lesley and the TLC Team

Hear what others had to say about previous performances of The Sound of Picture Books;

"Music combined with narratives makes for a wonderful experience. I love to draw so I found Matt inspiring and Danny is so engaging and entertaining it is hard not to walk away loving books." - L.Sanderson

"It was well organised, great venue. The performance was very good." M.Gibbings

"It was lovely to see the book brought to life with music and film. Children enjoyed seeing it and hearing the instruments". - G.Hopetown-Smith

"Please keep doing this as I thought It taught the children so much, especially writing a music score and how all the instruments came together at the end. I learnt so much - how important the illustrator is, how simple a story can be and most importantly, the characters." - A.Watkins

A contribution to the Sound of Picture Books has been made by the Gabby Arts Legacy Trust.  Our thanks for their ongoing and generous support of this unique performance experience!
