Teachers & Librarians! Whether you're a regular visitor to our Centre keen to check out the new restorations, or new to us and always wondered what we offer primary and secondary schools in WA, we're pleased to welcome you to our Open Galleries Professional Learning, Thursday 20 May, 4.00-6.30pm.

What To Expect

Enjoy an afternoon professional learning experience suitable for all Teachers, Teacher Librarians and Pre-service Teachers. You’ll be invited to explore our beautifully restored Centre, meet our team including a few new faces, see a literature workshop demonstration, browse our Bookshop stocked only with Australian titles for children and young adults, and view some of our Term 2 picture book exhibitions! As bonus, we'll also display a popular Shaun Tan exhibition from our unique archive of travelling exhibitions.

Get a group of colleagues together and head to Fremantle!  You will:

  • Be one of the first to explore inside our newly restored Centre
  • See mini Workshop Demonstrations and 4 Picture Book Exhibitions
  • Be in the draw to win a 1.5 hour Literature Workshop for your school

BOOKSHOP & ART SALES - Browse in our Bookshop featuring only Australian picture books and YA Literature. Original art and prints by a range of Australian illustrators are also for sale. EFTPOS facilities available.

LOCATION - We’re behind the limestone walls of the world heritage-listed Old Fremantle Prison, in the Old Prison Hospital building. Access is via our own pedestrian gate on the corner of Hampton Rd and Knutsford St. No access via the main prison entrance.

PARKING - Free parking available on the Hampton Road grass near our gate or alternatively find a spot on nearby streets. Please check signs for restrictions.

As Perth's COVID restrictions may change for this event book early to avoid disappointment. Limits to attendee numbers may apply.
