Our team at The Literature Centre cannot wait to distribute thousands of books to children and teens who are disadvantaged or in regional areas of WA.

Do you remember the books from your childhood, all your favourite characters and their wonderful adventures? Do you recall how much you loved them and how the books’ pages were worn from being read over and over again? Many of us still enjoy reliving that delight when we read the same stories to our own children and grandchildren.
We know that books bring so much joy. That’s why we’re proud to partner with ABC Radio Perth and Breakfast host Russell Woolf to share a little of their special magic with communities and children in need.
In the lead up to Book Week 2021, we’re asking you to kindly donate new books suitable for children and young adults to the ABC Brekky Book Bank to help disadvantaged children in WA discover the joy of books and increase their literacy skills.
In partnership with ABC Radio Perth, we will help to deliver donated books to low socio-economic schools in the Perth metropolitan area and in regional WA via our Centre's programs. If reading gave you pleasure when you were younger, why not give a little of that pleasure to a child today?
What we’re looking for:
- Children’s books (for age 2+ years old)
- Young adults’ books (12 – 18 years old)
How to donate (Drop off your books to the following locations by now Tuesday 31 August)
Main drop off centre: ABC STUDIOS – 30 Fielder Street, East Perth (M-F 8am – 5pm)
Other drop off centres:
- CANNINGTON: Communicare – 28 Cecil Avenue (M-F 9am – 5pm)
- ARMADALE – Communicare - Unit 6, 42 Fourth Road (M-F 9am – 5pm)
- BELMONT - Communicare - Suite 3, 2nd Floor, 213 Wright Street, Cloverdale (M-F 9am – 5pm)
- GERALDTON: Communicare - 85 Chapman Road (M-F 9am – 5pm)
- KENWICK - Communicare Academy: 11-13 Royal Street, Kenwick (M-F 9am – 5pm)
- KWINANA – Communicare - Darius Wells Centre, Unit 1, 2 Robbos Way (M-F 9am – 5pm)
- MALAGA: Communicare - Unit 10, 5 Townsend Street (M-F 9am – 5pm)

Why we’re asking for new children’s books?
These books will be given to children across the state and for many, getting a new book may be a rare occurrence. We want this to be a special new gift - just for them. If you’re looking to donate your pre-loved books, please get in touch with Save the Children.
