Spring Residency 8-22 April

Are you an emerging or mid-career artist in need of some quiet time? Do you enjoy staying in unusual and historic surroundings?

The Literature Centre, located on the site of the Old Fremantle Prison Hospital, is piloting a paid Spring residency in early 2023. We have one bedroom available from 8-22 April, with cooking amenities, lounge room, showers and free wifi, plus a studio and large gallery space for you to develop your work if you are a dancer or performer. Our location is close to cafes, restaurants, bars and the beach. We will provide any advice and support where needed but will generally leave you alone. If you are scared of ghosts in any way this residency may not be for you.

All we require for submission is no more than one page telling us who you are, what you will be working on and what you hope to get out of your stay. At the end of your residency, we will ask you to write a quick testimonial. We will accept shorter stays from more than one artist or a longer stay during the entire period for one artist. Our charge is $100 a night and if you stay for two weeks or more, we will discount your stay with up to two nights free. Charges do not include catering or cleaning but we will make sure you have some cooking supplies.
