Denis Knight

Denis Knight is a children’s author and computer programmer who grew up geeking out about the works of JRR Tolkien, Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams. He graduated from high school in the same year as Marty McFly, and he is still waiting to receive his first hoverboard.

Denis is the co-author of the Wednesday Weeks series of middle-grade fantasy adventure novels which ask the question: In a world of magic, can science save the day? Since his first book was published in 2021, Denis has presented to young audiences at writing festivals, schools and libraries in Western Australia, Queensland and New South Wales, as well as nationally via the Sydney Opera House Digital Creative Learning program.

Denis’s presentations on the topic of “Science, Books and Magic” are designed to make literature and science fun, and to inspire young people to combine creativity with STEM subjects in new and imaginative ways. His shows are also notable for incorporating “big impact” science demonstrations – including vortex
cannons and toilet paper blowers – which never fail to wow audiences of any age.
