School Programmes

The Literature Centre has a range of workshops for students from Pre-Primary to Year 12, available at our Centre or in your school. Depending on the workshop you book, they may be conducted by our Education Officers, who have primary and secondary teaching experience, or by a range of Authors and Illustrators from across Australia who come and work with us.

Excursion Policy Guidelines: The Literature Centre complies fully with the excursion policy guidelines of the Department of Education.

Literature Workshops

Literature workshops are held in the Centre's galleries within an exhibition of original artwork from an Australian picture book.

Authors and Illustrators

The Literature Centre has worked with some of Australia’s most awarded and acclaimed Authors and Illustrators since we commenced in 2012.

Professional Learning for Teachers

The Literature Centre’s workshops and Author/Illustrator in-residence programme provides excellent professional learning for teachers.

Talented Young Writers' Programme (TYWP)

Each term, several groups of students come together for a full day workshop with one of Australia’s top Authors for young adults.

Travelling Exhibitions and 'Go for 2 & 5' Primary School Literature Programme

The Literature Centre aims to make literature more accessible to students from Pre-Primary to Year 12, in an inspiring and nurturing environment.  Although many schools visit the Centre, we also conduct residences in primary and secondary schools and libraries throughout Western Australia.  

'Make Your Own Picture Book' Workshops

Conducted by one of the Centre's experienced Education Officers, this is the perfect workshop to prepare your students for children's picture book competitions or Curriculum programmes.
 

Writing Workshops

Writing workshops with an emphasis on writing techniques, narrative or persuasive strategies can be tailor-made for your class.
 

Poetry Workshops

Would you like your students to enjoy poetry writing?  Why not bring them along to experience a variety of poetry styles and techniques!  
 

'Centre Classics' Workshops

Using our range of 'Centre Classics' picture book exhibitions, these interactive workshops go beyond the book's text to explore the meaning behind illustrations and more!
