Oral language provides children with the foundation upon which all later learning is predicated. Providing children with engaging and exciting opportunities to develop their speaking and listening skills is so critical, and yet can be difficult to find in an already crowded curriculum. This Professional Learning focuses on the different ways in which picture books can be used to support students’ oral language development - from the early years and beyond.
We will be looking at different questioning techniques and activities that can be used in any classroom to create an environment where students are willing and able to share their thoughts and ideas out loud. Come along and revive your enthusiasm for picture books in this fun and interactive session presented by TLC Education Officer, Beck Blaxell.
Suitable: Early Childhood - Year 6 Teachers.
Western Australian Curriculum Links: Literature; Language; Literacy.
Bookings Essential: Email email@example.com or phone 08 9430 6869.
The Literature Centre is located in the Old Fremantle Prison Hospital, corner Knutsford Street and Hampton Road, Fremantle.
